Cleaning of marine boilers 
Installation of cleaning technology on a marine boiler is necessary to prevent the build up of deposits, not only to maintain the heat transfer design parameters but also to reduce the possibility of soot fires.  The latter is viewed as particularly critical by the major international marine insurance companies such as Lloyds Register, Det Norske Veritas, etc for whom the loss of a vessel will have significant commercial consequences.

The Solution 
In view of the tight space conditions, sootblowers of short overall lengths are more commonplace. The heat recovery sections are generally of the finned tube design and rotating nozzle blowers are selected as they require less exterior space.  The flue gas temperatures and the tube bank configuration prevailing at the points of installation determine the blowing tube materials as well as the number of nozzles required in each installation.
